This spawned from a few convos and I had. We all love certain characters from different fandoms, and we show our love/appreciation for them in our own ways. *cough*weallknowwhoIlove*cough* Lately, however, I've been noticing how some fans take their adoration to a very immature level. They're screaming 'HE'S MINE!' or 'YOU DON'T LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS ME!!!' to anyone with the same favorite charrie as them. En contrare, he's not yours, and don't tell me you love him more than me. To me, that is immature BULLSHIT.
1.) Everyone is entitled to love a certain character however much they want. You may think you are a charrie's biggest fan (and hell, maybe you are for all I know), but it doesn't give you the right to go around on other people's pages saying 'He's MINE!' and whatnot and badmouthing a person simply b/c they happened to share adoration for the same character. Calling someone's artwork/prose 'disgusting' b/c it's their OC with said charrie and not yours is downright immature too.
2.) The overly crazy fans (especially the radical fangirls) need to know too that no matter how much you whine and carry on and claim it, THEY DON'T BELONG TO YOU. I know this, b/c I had a problem with someone like this in the past, claiming Koleniko was theirs. IN YOUR DREAMS. C'mon, I wish all the time he was mine! But that's the keyword: WISH. I know I will never own him. Keep dreaming sweetheart. These characters already have copyrighted owners, and they should be respected. Do NOT tell me so-and-so is yours just b/c you love them to death. The only way they can become YOURS is if the copyright is given to you. Like I said, DREAM ON.
Agree with me or not, but this is becoming a real problem amongst fandoms. Grizz and I have seen it firsthand, and it gets pretty damn ugly. So please, stop with the immaturity and realize that none of these characters are yours, and that anyone can like any charrie they want. Respect copyrights and others' opinions. We are all entitled to love whatever character we want.
Edit: 12/11/07: Feel free to use this if you like, but just let me know in some way that you are. That would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: 12/6/08: At the rate that this is being faved (which has picked up in the last few months), I'm no longer having the time or patience to thank each person for faving. So thank you to all who have faved this stamp. I appreciate it.
AMEN!!! I am so putting this in my shoutboard. The obsessive, petty, infantile fangirlism has to end. Even with Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. I want to smack anyone who goes around claiming a character or saying they love them more. Yeah? Wanna prove that? Give it a try, humor me. They need to look up the definition of "infatuation" and realize that it is much different than love. Love is undying...you would die for the one you love. I can guarantee that the majority of the children in this fandom don't understand that. Because the majority of them are already moving on to other things *cough* transformers *cough* And those that say they won't move on now...I give them a few months. So thanks for this stamp, I shall display it with pride.

Yes, it needs to stop, desperately. If I have to see one more 'OMGILOVEHIMMORE!', I think I'll going to chuck biscuits. The absolute insanity regarding radical fangirlism has been blown majorly out of proportion, and someone needs to take a stand against it. Who better than us??? Huzzah for being decent fangirls!
Haha, now I would this thing if only I had a sub...*sigh* I'll get one soon enough.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
